Crested Butte - Temporary Real Estate

How long can you camp in the forests outside of Crested Butte? Jeff Perambo can tell you that it is 14-days having been informed of this the other morning at his campsite by Forest Service police.  After 14-days, you will be ticketed for residing illegally on Forest Service land.  Perambo told the officers that he was camping while searching for a permanent residence in Crested Butte.  The fine?  $525 or 6-months in jail and have a good day.
