Boulder Carbon Footprint

posted by Rex Manz on 19 September 2008

The University of Colorado located in Boulder intends to lower its carbon footprint — the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that it generates.  A recent study discloses that two-thirds of CU’s gas emissions result from the consumption of electricity to operate classroom lights and university computers.  One-tenth of the emissions result from the consumption of natural gas in the generation of water steam used to heat the campus buildings.  CU will release a definitive plan next year outlining the steps that it intends to take to make the campus carbon-neutral by a set future date.  Hats-off to CU for walking the talk!
