Steamboat Springs Affordable Housing

A housing demand analysis commissioned by the Yampa Valley Housing Authority and paid by the City of Steamboat Springs and others, shows that the City’s affordable housing stock is mismatched with the demand for affordable housing.  The affordable housing available today is primarily small one-bedroom units.  The affordable segment of the market is looking for larger two-bedroom affodable housing units to accommodate their families.  The Council, upon reviewing the report, expressed the intention of requesting real estate developers to include larger affordable housing options in the development plans that they submit to the City of Steambouat Springs for approval.  Ideally, proponents request that small-lot and single-family homes should be included in the affordable housing program.
