Aspen Real Estate Market Update

August is down 42% from last year, but the average sales price for residences of all types in Aspen stands at $5.4million year-to-date.  Last year 876 sold year-to-date compared with 585 residential properties this year through August.  Money is more difficult to borrow given the mortgage turmoil and cash buyers are watching the stock market as well as the real estate market trying to decide when prices have bottomed.
