Boulder - Gateway To The Rockies

posted by Rex Manz on 29 October 2008

Boulder Colorado is the Gateway to the Rockies.  Among its 100,000-plus residents, you will find active retirees, professional athletes in-training, scientists, organic farmers, software engineers, University of Colorado students and Pearl Street Mall revelers.  Boulder uniquely appeals to families with children as well as young single professionals.  Most city streets include a bike lane and the public bus system is award-winning.  With 275-plus days of sunshine, Boulder is an outdoor city.

Several blocks of Pearl Street in Downtown Boulder were converted into a pedestrian mall in the 1980’s.  Today you will find boutique shoppes, cafes, bookstores, clothing stores, import shops and street entertainers.  Most summer weekends host a festival and the Farmers’ Market in its 35th year is held downtown every Saturday for 6-months of the year.

Beginning in the 1960’s when Boulder was home to more of an alternative “hippie” culture, an open space land trust was created that has accumulated land every since for public enjoyment.  Today, these vast parcels of land in and around Boulder remain undeveloped hosting a variety of pedestrian and bicycle pathways as well as hiking trails.  The Boulder Creek Path winds 16-miles through the City of Boulder beginning in the namesake Boulder Canyon with many City of Boulder parks dotted along the way.

All of this is set to the backdrop of the Rocky Mountain Front Range and the iconic Flatirons.  Within 30-minutes, you can enjoy the Eldora Ski Resort.  Breckenridge, Keystone and Copper Mountain are within a 2-hour drive of Boulder.  Vail and Beaver Creek are only another 20-30 minutes further on Interstate 70.  Winter Park is perhaps two and one-half hours away and Steamboat Springs is less than 3-hours away.  Boulder is the “Gateway To The Rockies”.

With its seemingly endless amenities and activities, Boulder appeals to many people.  If you are considering relocating or retiring to Boulder, or are interested in a second-home in Boulder, I would welcome the opportunity to assist you.
