Beaver Creek - Presidential Elegance

As you drive-through the Town of Avon Colorado and approach the entrance to the Beaver Creek Ski Resort, you begin to notice the difference.  The portico entrance actually has an attendant present that is both “attendant” and pleasant wishing you an enjoyable visit.  The architecture and attention to detail is evident and by no means a coincidence.  The Beaver Creek Ski Resort was thoughtfully planned in every respect.

It was 1957 when Pete Seibert joined forces with Earl Eaton in scouting locations for ski areas.  They first settled on Vail which they opened in 1962 — the same year they received environmental permission from the U.S. Forest Service for the Beaver Creek ski area.

The Beaver Creek Ski Resort was designated to host the 1976 Olympic alpine events.  Preparations were underway when the City of Denver voters elected to forgo hosting the Olympics — won’t happened today.  The pace of opening slowed and Beaver Creek was opened in 1980.

Vail Associates, the developers of the Vail Ski Resort, took all that they had learned and applied it to the planning of the Beaver Creek Ski Resort.  Nestled in a valley at the base of numberous ski runs, the setting and architecture is reminiscent of a village in the Alps. 

Boutique shopping and elegant dining awaits you in Beaver Creek.  Abundant festivals and events fill the summers as well as the outdoor activities of hiking, camping, fishing and more.  Former Present Gerald Ford saw the special charms of Beaver Creek and made it his ski resort of choice.  The presidential stature of Beaver Creek remains evident today.
