Keystone - Own The Night

The Keystone Ski Resort is close to the top of the list for winter visitors.  It has the largest night skiing operation of any Colorado ski resort as well.  Its 3,000-plus acres of skiing and snowboarding spans three-mountain peaks.  At one-hour and thirty minutes, Keystone is among the closest major Colorado ski resort to the Denver International Airport.

Although the Lake Dillion area has an extensive mining history, Keystone was founded as a family ski area by Max and Edna Dercum in 1970.  Back-in-the-day, families would pack-up the kids in the minivan and head to Keystone for a ski day.  Over the years, ownership and management has changed hands several times going between Ralston Purina, Intrawest (developer of River Run) and currently Vail Associates.

Initially a collection of motels, convenience stores and restaurants, Keystone has become more of a self-contained destination with ski-in / ski-out condos, entertainment, ski outfitters, restaurants and more.  Once you arrive at the Keystone Ski Resort, you can park the car and leave the keys in your pocket until you are ready to leave.

As popular as Keystone is in the winter season, its popularity has extended into the summer.  Mountain biking, hiking and other outdoor activities attract summer visitors.  An extensive calendar of summer events and festivals will keep you coming back to Keystone!
