Telluride Historical Museum

The Telluride Historical Museum is a real community museum displaying Telluride’s history together with that of the region.  Learn of Telluride’s geology and the discovery of silver, gold and other minerals.  Travel in time with the growth of a mining town and witness the life of miners and their families.  See how the miners and the mine owners clashed and the tragic results.

Telluride has a colorful history including the fabled banker robber Butch Cassidy as well as the futuristic scientist Nikola Tesla.  After the gold and silver busts, learn what happened to Telluride and its citizens.  Discover ”white gold” and the underpinnings of today’s Telluride Ski Resort.

The museum is located at 201 West Gregory Avenue in the “Hall’s Hospital” building.  Built in 1896, the building served as Telluride’s hospital until 1964 when it was closed due to a diminishing population.  It re-opened in 1966 as the Telluride Historical Museum.
