City Park Denver Condos Lofts For Sale
Hard to believe that City Park was simple prairie covered with buffalo grass, cactus, sage brush and an occasional tree. City Park’s 320-acres were principally designed by Henry Meryweather in 1882 with design enhancements by Reinhard Schuetze in the 1900s and Saco DeBoer in the 1920s.
1896 saw the Denver Zoo begin with a single native black bear. Using water from the City Ditch, Ferril Lake was created and a boathouse was built in the early 1900s.
Today’s Denver Museum of Nature and Science was opened in 1908 feauturing an exhibition of native bison among a native fauna setting. Also added in 1908, was an “electric fountain” whose 12-water geysers and 11-lights were manually controlled with levers. By the late 1990s, the fountain was no longer operational. One-hundred years later in 2008, a $3-million replacement replica was rededicated complete with LED-lights managed by a computer.
The City Park neighborhood is mostly park with limited surrounding residential areas. Here you will find restored historic homes together with modern mid-rise condominiums with commanding views of the front range and the city skyline.
City Park is a neighborhood of history, park activities, and almost rural living!
