Downtown Denver Condos

Downtown Denver Condos

Towering bank buildings, corporate headquarters, window-impaired high-rise condominiums, concrete, and more concrete mark the typical downtown.

Need to face-lift downtown?  Tear it down.  Through the 1960s and 1970s, 20-percent of Denver’s older buildings were demolished.  Stop!

In mid-1980s, a new attitude, a new approach surfaced.  Why not encourage people to restore, rehabilitate, renovate, recyle?  Why not promote and rediscover Denver’s history in the process of invigorating Downtown?
In 1988, the City of Denver created the Lower Downtown Historic District to promote the preservation of a 27-block area that contained 120 historic buildings.  Before long, rather than demolishing the buildings, they were being converted into lofts, restaurants, offices, coffee houses, bookstores, and other businesses.  LoDo was a huge success.

In 2002, the City of Denver created the Ballpark Historic District encompassing a 20-block area.  Again, a revitalization took hold transforming an area of deteriorating storehouses and factories.

During this same timeframe, the Millenium Bridge was constructed to span the railyard. The Platte Pedestrian Bridge was built to span the South Platte River.  Finally, the Highland Bridge was built over Interstate-25.  You could now walk from west of Interstate-25 all the way to Downtown Denver.  Ta! Da!
The Central Platte Valley was also improved with 90-acres of parks and public space.  The Cherry Creek Trail was connected to these parks allowing for miles of uninterrupted cycling, walking, or inline-skating if you are so inclined.
Downtown Denver has become a Great Place To Live!
