Golden Triangle Civic Center Denver Condos Lofts For Sale
In 1902, the Denver Municipal Art Commission began the discussion of creating a civic center for Denver that would be the heart of Denver. The Colorado State Capitol completed in 1904 was an anchor for the area that would be known as the Civic Center or the Golden Triangle bounded by Colfax Avenue, Speer Boulevard and Lincoln Street.
The Civic Center has evolved over the decades to include various state and country buildings, the main Denver public library, the Civic Center public area including monuments and colonnades, and various museums. The Denver Art Museum’s 2006 completion of the titanium-clad Frederic C. Hamilton Building is a notable profile of the area together with the Denver Public Library’s 1995 expansion.
The first houses built in the area date to the1880’s. A few of these Victorian row houses remain, but the area’s real estate history has been bumpy until recently. Beginning in the 1950’s, the area was largely populated by old homes that were in deteriorating condition. Car dealerships, auto repair garages and parking lots took over. Beginning in the 1970’s, area warehouses, industrial buildings and repair garages were converted to residential lofts and commercial offices catering to small professional businesses. With the expansion of the Denver Public Library and the Denver Art Museum, there has been a new construction boom of high-rise luxury condominiums in the Golden Triangle. These luxury lofts offer concierge services together with stunning architecture including Balustrade, Beauvallon, Cadillac Lofts, Century Lofts, Grand Cherokee Lofts, Metropolitan Lofts, Prado and Trovare. The Civic Center Cultural Complex offers a sophisticated setting for many of the city’s elite.
In addition to Golden Triangle, Downtown Denver includes the Urban Villages of Ballpark, Capitol Hill, Curtis Park|Five Points, the Downtown Central Business District, Cheesman Park, LoDo|Lower Downtown, Riverfront Park and Uptown|North Capitol Hill.
The Northeast Denver area is home to the Urban Villages of City Park, Congress Park, Park Hill, and Stapleton. In the Southeast Denver area, you will find the Urban Villages of Cherry Creek, Hilltop, Lowry, University, and Washington Park. The Urban Villages of Northwest Denver include Berkeley, Highlands, Jefferson Park and RiNo|River. Southwest Denver includes the Urban Village of Platt Park.
