The Vail Valley Foundation was created in 1981 for the purpose of benefiting the community through the organization of cultural, artistic, educational, historic and athletic performances, events and attractions. The VVF is a non-profit which raises and distributes funds for these charitable purposes.

Vail - King Of The Hill

Unlike many of Colorado’s ski towns, Vail did not begin as an 1880’s brawling mining town. Charlie Vail, a Colorado state highway engineer, oversaw the construction of Hwy 6 over the Continental Divide in 1940. The highway was named Vail Pass in his honor.
