Vail - King Of The Hill

Unlike many of Colorado’s ski towns, Vail did not begin as an 1880’s brawling mining town.  Charlie Vail, a Colorado state highway engineer, oversaw the construction of Hwy 6 over the Continental Divide in 1940.  The highway was named Vail Pass in his honor. Ski Magazine 2008 Readers’ Poll

Nine-thousand Ski Magazine subscribers responded to the 2008 annual survey ranking ski resorts.  The following Colorado ski resorts were among the Top Ten ski resorts in Western North America:

#2 - Vail
#4 - Aspen
#5 - Snowmass
#7 - Breckenridge
#9 - Steamboat Springs

This is a great showing for our Colorado ski resorts.  Nice work!
