The 575-acre Table Mesa subdivision was annexed into the City of Boulder in 1962. Modestly priced family homes sprouted and today’s Southern Hills Elementary School soon followed. CU student renters discovered Table Mesa in the 1970’s and 1980’s. By then, the initial houses were approaching 20-years in age and looking tired.
Table Mesa was rediscovered post 2000 and a trend of “pop-the-top” began adding a second-story to these initially modest single-level ranch-style houses. With it’s desirable proximity to the iconic Flatirons and quick access to multiple trailheads, the Table Mesa area revitalization took off and has not slowed. Many of the unchanged 1960’s house are owned as investment properties and rented.
The Table Mesa Shopping Center is the community anchor for this area. Here you will find a variety of restaurants, shops, and a large-format grocer in King Soopers.
